Start delayed because of wind

After a stressful night fixing the electronic system of the boat and installing the new solar panel, the Copacabana team was up at 7 this morning, ready to undergo the last inspection stages before the start of the race, scheduled for 11.30am.

Fortunately for the Copacabana, the weather hadn't improved. Strong gusts of wind and a cold rain swept the flatland around Leeuwarden. The organizers decided to delay the start of the race to 3 o'clock this afternoon, giving more time to the Brazilian team to tweak and test their system once more.

The solar boats should arrive in Sneek, 25 km South of Leeuwarden, around 6pm local time. The weather conditions have improved considerably and a nice sunshine should welcome the teams in Sneek. Upon arrival in the town, the teams will face another challenge: the canals in the town centre are crossed by many low bridges that the teams will have to avoid or cross over, putting their imagination and inventiveness to work...
