The brazilian boat made it third in the second leg of the race. It sailed smoothly through the 42 km of canals between Sneek and Stavoren and arrived in third position after the Polish boat from Gdansk and the Dutch boat from Groningen.
The Copacabana, that maintained a steady speed of about 10 km/h, completed the leg in 4h 17 min 45 sec. The boat benefited from a shady strip of canal, for about 20 min, that slowed down the boats with more motor power. Because their large engine needs more power, they cannot stay out of the sun for very long and use up their reserve battery power very quickly. The Copacabana's small engine is powered solely by the solar panels under the sun, and can last 30-40 min on battery power in the shade.
The team climbed the podium in the camping in Stavoren, where they were congratulated by the organizers of the race and the mayor of the town. Photos coming soon!
